For the purposes of this debate, there are two dominant views of how a post automation future could play out. The first assumes that the vast majority of work will be automated, and most people will not have to work for the economy to be productive. In that case, the government would collect and redistribute automated production and allow people to choose what to do with their lives. The other assumes that while some tasks will be automated, humans will simply move into higher level, more fulfilling forms of employment.
